Welcome to both HOL: Hogwarts Online and to your official orientation class! This class was put together by your peers in order to help you get around, and to not feel so lost. So, thanks for joining and taking advantage of the class!
I absolutely remember being a first year and having no idea what to do around HOL. There is so much that goes on and so many events to take part in that it all gets lost in translation somehow.
I’m Prof. Zenix James and the class assistant is the lovely Laurie Lovegood, so you know who to harass.

About This Class

This is a one term class set up to help (mostly) first years find their way around HOL. It offers the full 300 points. Each assignment is worth 30 points. Every month, there will be one assignment and one extra credit assignment. At the end of the term, there will be a 60 point final.

To pass this class, you need to receive a total of 120 points. Some of these points must come from you attempting the work for during the month where we discuss your own house. For instance, if you are in Gryffindor, like me, the only assignment required of you is the month we discuss Gryffindor. That is the only mandatory assignment, because it will be helpful.

Other Things you need to know

  • Turning things in!

All assignment and lessons will be left up for the entire term. Do not turn in your homework before the first of the month that it is due. I know you want to get a head start, but if you turn it in early, I will have to send you and it to Azkaban, where the both of you will never be seen again. All assignments are due on the last day of each month at midnight HOL Time. Please send all work to holorientation@yahoo.com

  • Late Assignments
I can absolutely understand that life can be absolutely crazy and hectic and unpredictable sometimes. If you find that you need an extension for whatever reason, please send myself or Laurie a message through the HOL site and we will work with you.
